#58 - God

I'm sure some of you have figured out that from time to time, I go out of the randomly generated order of my name list and use my creative license to make things work out.  Today is one of those days.  Today will be my Thanksgiving Day post and today I would like to thank God for all the good things in my life.

Today, I would like to take a minute to reflect, via blog, on all of the blessings that He has bestowed on me.  My faith.  My spouse.  My children.  My family.  My friends.  My health and the health of my spouse, children, family, and friends.  And at the very end of this list, is the many material things in my life.  A lot of times, I place too much importance on material things, but when I reflect on what I am thankful for, the material things hardly even come to mind.  I mean really...thank you for my car?  my clothes?  my ipod?  I don't think so...

 I know that all that I have and all that I am, I have because of God.  Thank you Lord for being a part of my life every day.  Thank you for all the you have given me my first 39 years of life.  Thank you for helping me to see what is important and guiding me down the right path everyday.  Today, I will not ask you for anything, but I will give thanks to you for always being with me to guide me and bless me.

I received this Thanksgiving day prayer from the VCHS mother's group and I would like to share it with all my readers.

Accept, O Lord,

our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us.
We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation,
for the beauty of this world,
for the wonder of life,
and for the mystery of love.
We thank you for the blessing of family and friends,
and for the loving care
which surrounds us on every side.
We thank you for setting us at tasks
which demand our best efforts,
and for leading us to accomplishments
which satisfy and delight us.
We thank you also
for those disappointments and failures
that lead us to acknowledge
our dependence on you alone.
Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ;
for the truth of his Word
and the example of his life;
for his steadfast obedience,
by which he overcame temptation;
for his dying,
through which he overcame death;
and for his rising to life again,
in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom.
Grant us the gift of your Spirit,
that we may know him and make him known;
and through him, at all times and in all places,
may give thanks to you in all things. Amen
